Microsoft Has Earned My Distrust

Microsoft stonewalling, evasive behavior

In early January 2022, Bing blocked my website globalevangelism.online, so I sent the Microsoft team a message using my Bing webmaster tools account.

Teja Adigopula from Microsoft wrote me back,

“Hi There,

Good day and thank you for your patience while we investigated the issue.

After further review, it appears that your site did not meet the standards set by Bing to remain indexed the last time it was crawled. To ensure that this was not a false flag, I also escalated the issue to our Product Team and they manually reviewed your site and confirmed that it is in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines…

I am unable to provide you the specifics of the block as our product review team does not share details of the block. However, I wish to help you with few links and help docs which will not only help in avoid blocks but also help you to rank better in the Bing index.”

I gutted my website globalevangelism.online in an attempt to remove anything that the Microsoft team might consider objectional. I cut 20 historical works which was a huge part of the original site, I deleted several images. I added a dedicated IP address.

Because a Microsoft team member had written:

“Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to assist.

Have a good day ahead!

Thanks,

Teja Adigopula” (1/5/2022)

I took the man’s words at face value.

I went over the website with a fine-tooth comb to make sure there wasn’t a valid reason for the team to keep the website blocked, and after doing so, I asked the Bing / Microsoft team to unblock the site. Instead, they shut down all communication with me.

Over the last twelve months the Bing / Microsoft team has ignored every single e-mail I have sent them: all five emails.

Refusing to get back with me is the opposite of,

“Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to assist.” Teja Adigopula”

Obviously, the Bing / Microsoft team has earned my distrust!

And the issue of my website being blocked has not been resolved.

  1. Hi Rich, same here. Except that I haven’t received any replies from Bing.

I am also trying to decide whether I should rebuild my website from scratch hoping that it somehow removes whatever block as been placed on my site. However, from what I’ve read, it appears that there are hundreds if not thousands of websites that have been removed from Bing overnight without any warning.

Reading all the comments from other web masters it seems as if this is a Bing problem more than website problems but who knows.

Good luck! I hope you manage to get your site reindexed soon. If you do, please would you let us know how you managed to solve the problem.
